Viking

Office supplies reseller Viking is re-establishing its presence in Ireland with the opening of a distribution centre in Dublin, the development of a local sales team, and the creation of a local customer service centre.

Viking will now be able to improve service quality by storing products locally, reducing delivery times, and offering more market-specific products and advice at a time of rapid changes in working environments.

Simon Allan-Brooks, Managing Director at Viking Ireland & UK said, “by bringing back our products to Dublin, we aim to provide a faster, more flexible service, and to develop closer customer relationships. Our customers have encouraged us to re-establish a physical presence in Ireland. Our partnerships with Irish companies further demonstrate our commitment to local ties and sustainability. Our goal is to massively expand our leadership as a multichannel office supplies provider to Irish businesses of all sizes.”

Owned and operated by Coll8, an Irish third-party logistics provider, the Dublin distribution centre will enable quicker fulfillment for Viking’s 100,000 customers in Ireland. Viking previously served them from its warehouse in Leicester, UK. Located in Dublin’s Baldonnell Business Park, the distribution centre will house a selection of Viking’s office supplies and stationery, office furniture, catering supplies, as well as janitorial and sanitation solutions.

Viking has also contracted two Irish transport and logistics companies to carry out its distribution operations. McCulla will move products between cities. A Post will ensure last-mile deliveries. Both companies will use biofuel or electric vehicles to help Viking reduce its carbon footprint.

The move is part of Viking’s strategy to be closer to its customers. In March 2023, Viking UK and Ireland re-insourced its customer service centre in the UK, creating 60 local jobs in the process.
